The education of the world’s children appears to be high on the global agenda, but the reality is very different. In developing countries, expenditure on women’s education has a great and positive impact on economic growth. In poor communities and countries, it is a fact that providing education equally to girls and boys helps them does better in health and economic growth. Every child should receive a good quality education for free. However, the reality is that millions of the world’s children are too poor to benefit from this policy unless there are special interventions that target their development.

            To support children in needs, we should have a clear understanding of the barriers that students face today, including grief through the loss of close family members, hunger, the danger of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy and the pressure to marry young and be pulled out of school. Many children around the world suffer abuse and neglect and are abandoned because the adults responsible for them are uneducated themselves and make the wrong decisions. However, the intention of the Believe In You project is to educate such children for life, for learning and for work, hence supporting them and their parents as a family, enabling the adults to act in a different way towards their children; in this way, we will create a better world.

 

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

1. To improve the quality of life of vulnerable children and communities, by creating projects supporting schools, charities and NGOs.

2. To train caregivers and parents in giving skills to enable these children to get adequate care, love and support.

3. To provide an adequate education for every girl and boy, helping them to lose all their fears and worries, creating a positive environment for them to learn in.

4. To create awareness in the community and the outside world of the need to protect and support vulnerable children and orphans as well as protecting their human rights.

5. To investigate the global reality to implement the ‘learning by doing’ approach, and to practice community living with children, families, teachers and the community, all working together in the same direction.

6. To train progressive teachers who can respond to the challenges of our time and can be committed to creating a happy and safe environment where everyone is making progress through social and educational projects.

7. To become experts and put our skills and knowledge into practice supporting needed children with their education.

8.  To link all these countries with the same mission: “Equal and quality education for every girl and boy to understand the world, to take action and apply skills for life, learning and work”.

9. To increase access to family planning and to work closely with governments and vulnerable groups: women, girls, widows, the young, the elderly, neglected children and orphans, people with disabilities, the displaced and refugees.

10. To inform the younger generation about the right way to access sexual education, and information about reproduction, health issues, sexually transmitted infections, family planning and the danger of teenage pregnancy.

11. To build latrines and provide clean water to ensure that girls stay at school and access the education they deserve.

12. To ensure that girls in rural areas are attending school.

13. To establish simple life skills, daily routines, nutritional education, gardening, farming, and sowing programmes.

14. To form children’s associations so that they can give their views and appoint representatives to their communities.

15. To provide vulnerable people with mosquito nets, mattresses, and blankets to prevent malaria in Uganda and where needed.

16. To support vulnerable children, such as orphans and street children, with school fees, food, school materials and uniforms.

17. To teach art, new technologies, business, emotional skills, and how to solve real problems.

As a teacher, the most important aspect for me is to give the most vulnerable children the chance to learn, and I plan to work with them, with governments, communities, parents and teachers to enable every child to access quality education. My mission is: “Giving children and young people worldwide the opportunity to be educated” – I intend to help children to acquire an education and self-confidence.

            Education makes us free. Education changed my future and has made me the person I am today. Children will be taught to take action to change their own lives and also the wider world, even in the context of conflict or natural disaster. I grew up in a large family with six brothers and a sister, and I did not have the opportunity to be educated beyond primary school. For this reason, I want to touch millions of children’s lives by giving them the opportunity to be educated from primary to university level. It is for this reason that I created the Believe In You project and I am registering it as a charity.

My objective is to create projects for vulnerable, orphan and street children, giving them the opportunity to be educated and to inspire them to educate themselves. Education does not only happen in schools, education does not finish when you leave school, college or university – education is life, and we learn from every experience, inside and outside the classroom, even when we lack opportunity.

I am committed to making progress in growing spiritually, personally and professionally to be ready to help others.

Education has changed my life for the better, and education can change many children’s lives.
